People Who Love Durango....
Julie Schultz and Elizabeth McClung are locals who fell in love with Durango. Julie, the magazine’s editor and publisher, is originally from the Midwest and founded Durango Magazine in 1986 as a showcase for the best of Durango. During 2011, she is celebrating the magazine’s 25th anniversary. Named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Durango Chamber of Commerce in January 2011, Julie wed a third-generation Durango local in January 2010. Elizabeth McClung, the magazine’s longtime manager, moved to Durango from Denver with her husband Jimmy in 1994. Originally from Southern California, Elizabeth’s Durango family includes her mother Leslie and two grown children with homes, careers, and children of their own. Elizabeth has five grandchildren ranging in age from seven to one. Longtime local Carrie Summers Baikie moved to the area from Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1991. Carrie has worked as the magazine’s account executive since 2002. A busy mom raising three school-aged children, Carrie is an avid horsewoman and dedicated gardener who can be found at the Mancos Farmers Market selling eggs and salsa. She also volunteers with the Adaptive Sports Association. Account executive Lisa Mackey and her husband Steve found their way to Durango from Dayton, Ohio in 2003. Formerly a longtime radio sales executive, Lisa is a dedicated cyclist who has successfully completed six Iron Horse Bicycle Classic rides. A passionate professional photographer, Lisa includes in her Durango family her mother-in-law Norma and two young Bouvier des Flandres dogs, Buster and Puff.
